Unbelief stands as a barrier to the blessings and promises that faith in God brings. God calls us to believe, as this simple act opens the door to His grace, peace, and eternal life. The Israelites missed this rest because of unbelief, and we face the same risk if we hold back from trusting fully. Yet the solution is clear: by choosing belief, we step into the fullness of life and purpose that God has prepared.
There are two forms of unbelief: the first comes from not hearing the truth, which can be overcome by exposing yourself to the gospel of truth. The second arises from hearing but still resisting the truth, as many did in the wilderness. Jesus teaches that belief is the one essential step; through it, we find forgiveness, rest, and salvation. Today, let’s leave behind doubt and step into the peace and hope that belief in God offers.
CONFESSION
Lord, I put my trust in you, on the mountaintop or in the valley low. I know you will see me through it all.
